Hybrid Homeschooling
Providence Hybrid Academy, the first hybrid homeschool program in the Lehigh Valley, opened its doors to a new high school program for the 2023-2024 school year. Our model, which enables parents to be closely involved in their child’s education while also receiving academic support from teachers and social support in a school setting, will extend this hybrid approach into high school with a two-day-a-week offering. Parents legally homeschool their children and their children take as many or as few classes at PHA as needed based on their child’s needs and their family’s goals. In addition to learning from subject-matter experts and participating in a motivating social setting, students grow in independence as they complete required work at home, much like they would in college courses.
classical approach
Our high school program continues to draw on the Charlotte Mason philosophy as we educate the whole child--mind, body, and spirit. Ms. Mason wrote that “education is an atmosphere, a discipline, and a life.” We foster an atmosphere of education by creating an environment which promotes learning and interaction with people and ideas. We foster discipline through regular schedules and routines, through clear expectations and accountability. Understanding that education is a life or for life, we offer a wide and varied curriculum that touches not just the mind but also the heart and soul.
Our high school curriculum and methods are designed to help students build relationships with a great many things: knowledge of God through study of the Bible, knowledge of man through the study of history, literature, music, and art, and knowledge of the universe through the study of the sciences, math, and nature.
We expect the students to take ownership of their learning through active participation in class and completion of homework at home. Subjects are presented as opportunities to learn and grow and expand their knowledge and understanding of the Lord and the world. Nothing is "just because we have to" or "we need to get through this" as we seek to promote the curiosity and deeper thinking of this age group.

Students who take a la carte classes will receive course descriptions and a final letter grade to put on their transcript. PHA will partner with families enrolled in both days of classes to create and maintain a transcript for them.

mutual partnership
It is our privilege to partner with you in the education of your children. We look forward to a mutual partnership with you, your child, and PHA to educate your child in mind, body, and spirit. On our end of the partnership, we are committed to offering rigorous, engaging, and thorough classes on our days at school, which will be combined with homework for your child to complete in order to earn a full credit and a passing grade. We look forward to you supporting our efforts through regular attendance, completion of homework, curriculum compliance and adherence to other program policies. By working together in partnership, we are confident your child will gain the habits, skills, and knowledge for an excellent high school experience.

Students can sign up for a la carte offerings or two full days of classes, depending on yours and your child’s needs. Our full-day offering will operate with an alternating schedule. For example, some courses will run on a block schedule on Thursdays, and the rest of the courses will run on a block schedule on Fridays. Which courses will be offered on which days will depend on staffing and will be announced by the start of summer.
program requirements
Curriculum: PHA will pick quality, relevant living books for our curriculum. By committing to our program, families are committing to following and using our curriculum at home. Parents will purchase curriculum to be used on home days, much like in college.
Homework: In order to earn a full course credit, students need to complete assigned work at home and come prepared to participate in class with their completed work. Home assignments may include readings, written narrations/compositions, written labs, math assignments, and/or projects.
Grades: PHA’s high school program will introduce the use of grades to help with the completion of transcripts. Grades will be based on homework assignments, class participation, writing assignments, projects, labs, and/or exams. While we expect offering a course grade to be beneficial to parents compiling transcripts, as a homeschooling parent, you do have the ability to change a course grade if you strongly disagree with it.
policies
Read our in-process policies document here. Please note that we are committed to being a low-tech program. While there are many benefits to technology, our time together on campus is short, and we work hard to create an engaging and engaged learning environment. The use of technology, particularly cell phones, hinders the atmosphere and community we’re intentional in creating, and we appreciate your respect of and cooperation with this policy.
Matching Grant news!
In 2023, PHA was also offered a $15,000 matching grant from Stabler foundation. We raised over $17,000 before the end of November 2023. With the matching funds, we will have over $30,000 to fund startup costs, science and art materials, and will allow us to offer a range of excellent and competitive classes.
